What is QBi Service Pack 2?

QuickBooks QBi 2008/09 Service Pack 2

QuickBooks QBi 2008/09 Service Pack 2 is a free update for QuickBooks users.
Update description

QuickBooks QBi 2008/09 Service Pack 2 includes many product enhancements including enhancements to tax reporting and the editing of tax amounts on transactions.
Who needs to install this Update?

If you use QuickBooks QBi 2008/09 (Enterprise, Premier, Pro, Plus or Accounting) you should install the patch appropriate to your release.

Enhancements

QuickBooks QBi 2008/09 Service Pack 2 includes the following:
Item List - Gross Price
The 'Gross Price' column in the item list can be added and displayed in QBi through the customise columns feature
Forms Express
Alignment of Forms Express stationary has been improved for Pay Cheques, Cheques and Remittance Advices
Templates
Enhancements to QuickBooks templates - invoices, sales orders, statements and purchase orders
QuickBooks configuration
Configuration enhancements allowing QuickBooks to remember the last company file opened, tax code settings on the BAS and other such settings
Tax Liability
Enhancements to allow the ability to pay GST and PAYG Liabilities on one transaction
Payroll enhancements
Enhancements to payroll, within Pay Slips, Superannuation (YTD) and Advanced Holiday pay
Edit Tax Amounts
Based on customer feedback the ability to edit the tax amount column for Bills and General Journals has been added.
Tax Reporting
Tax reporting enhancements include applying tax code column on reports and the no tax code filter have been added
Outlook Express
The option to use the Outlook Express integration has been added
Accountants Copy
Enhancements to the Accountants copy function to allow adding, editing and deleting of bank transfers and build assemblies.

WARNING!
This product does not contain tax tables for 2008/09 Financial Year that take effect from 1st July 2008.
You must install the QuickBooks QBi 2008/09 Tax Table Update after installing Service Pack 2 to remain compliant for the 2008/09 Financial Year.

NO OTHER USERS WILL BE ABLE TO ACCESS THE QUICKBOOKS FILE/S WHILST THIS PROCESS TAKES PLACE SO AIM TO INSTALL THE SERVICE PACK AT A TIME THAT IS IN BUSINESS HOURS AND AT A TIME THAT WILL CREATE THE LEAST DISRUPTION TO THE BUSINESS.

1. Make sure you are currently running QuickBooks QBi 2008/09 Service Pack 1. Open QuickBooks QBi 2008/09 and press CTRL + 1 on the keyboard to display the Product Information. If Service Pack 1 is installed the Product will display as QuickBooks 2008-09 Release R3 or R3P
2. Ensure that your copy of QuickBooks QBi 2008/09 is activated. Click on Help menu > My Licence Information. If QuickBooks is not activated you can activate online by clicking File menu > Activate QuickBooks OR File menu > Refresh QuickBooks Licence.
3. Create a backup of your QuickBooks QBi 2008/09 company file(s).
4. Resort all Lists
5. Remove any transactions sitting in the Online Banking Centre.
6. Make sure an Accountants copy does not exist.
7. Verify and Rebuild your data (REBUILD MUST BE DONE ON A LOCAL MACHINE DO NOT REBUILD ACROSS A NETWORK).
8. Print the following reports on an accruals basis (use the date range option "All": Trial Balance, A/R Ageing Summary, A/P Ageing Summary, Payroll Summary, Tax Summary.
9. Create another backup of your QuickBooks QBi 2008/09 company file and do not overwrite the first backup.
10. Repeat above steps for all (if any) other QuickBooks QBi 2008/09 company files you have.
11. Exit from QuickBooks QBi 2008/09.
12. Download the 'QuickBooks 2008-09 SP2 (R3).exe' file and save it to a location on your hard drive (For example, C:[temp] or the Desktop).
13. Use Windows Explorer to locate 'QuickBooks 2008-09 SP2 (R3).exe', the file you just saved, and double-click it to run the setup program.
14. Follow the on-screen instructions to install QuickBooks QBi 2008/09 Service Pack 2. After installing the update successfully, you can delete the 'QuickBooks 2008-09 SP2 (R3).exe' file. Alternatively, save it to a safe location in case you need to re-install QuickBooks and this update at a later date.
15. [Vista users only] If you receive a "Program Compatibility Message", click "This program installed correctly" and continue with the installation.
16. The QuickBooks Update Utility will commence. When it has reached 100%, QuickBooks displays a message that 'Your version of QuickBooks QBi 2008/09 is now up to date'. Click OK. You may now open QuickBooks.
17. Check that QuickBooks QBi 2008/09 Service Pack 2 has been installed correctly by pressing CTRL + 1 on the keyboard to display the Product Information. The Product will display as QuickBooks 2008-09 Release R8 or R8P if the QBi 2008/09 Service Pack 2 has successfully installed.
18. Repeat steps 4, 7 and 8 and ensure none of the information in any reports have changed.

IF THE FILE OPERATES IN A NETWORK ENVIRONMENT ENSURE YOU COPY THE UPDATED VERSION OF THE FILE BACK TO THE SHARED LOCATION.

Note: If you are using QuickBooks QBi 2008/09 in a multi-user environment, you need to install this update on all workstations accessing your company file. You cannot use a company file in a multi-user environment unless all installations are updated to the same version.
