QBi Technical Update

QBi is large and alive! Any customers who are NOT Advantage and Subscription customers and who had purchased QBi prior to the end of April 2008, you will need to check which release you have. Open QuickBooks, open any QuickBooks file and then hold down the Ctrl key on the keyboard while you tap the 1 key – then release both. This should bring up the Product Information window. At the end of the very top line (Product line) check the code. If it is R1P you will need to download Service Pack 1 from the Quicken Website and follow the instructions provided. Effectively it requires a complete uninstall and reinstall of QBi. If it says R3P you have a version of QBi that incorporates Service Pack 1 and you simply need to apply Service Pack 2 – due for release in the last week of June.

All Advantage and Subscription customers should have received their QuickBooks 2008/09 (QBi) software by now. If you have not yet received a red envelope please contact Quicken to check the status of your shipment. Advantage and Subscription customers will have the R3P version (check as per the instructions above for your peace of mind). For those who have already installed QBi – how is it going? We (that is T3 and some brave clients) have encountered several issues. Most of these issues should be fixed in Service Pack 2.

If you have not yet upgraded your software, be aware there is a strict process to follow, you will need to allow a minimum of ½ a day to complete the upgrade process (based on a single user, 1 QuickBooks file business) and there is a lot that needs to be checked before and after. We strongly urge all clients who are intending to upgrade to consider requesting some assistance from your friendly Quicken Accredited Consultant as each file we have upgraded or heard of others upgrading has behaved differently.
